Default Windshield Mount Boom Audio Question

Question for anyone who's got the Windshield Mount Boom Audio-I have an '04 Road King Custom. Would the Speaker system mount/fit ok without removing the chrome windscreen/duckbill? The Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome speakers came on my bike and I don't care for them. I'd prefer to go with the windshield mounted boom setup and from what I've read, a lot of people like them.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Thanks!

Sure do. Ignore the Kuryakyn Speakers on the handlebars, they came off. The RK Custom has a chrome piece that comes up in front of the handlebar cover-I've seen most guys here call it a duckbill. I really like the idea of the windshield mounted setup, I just didn't know if I'd need to get rid of this chrome piece.

How do you like the setup? Can you hear it well? How about highway speeds?

Thanks for your help!

I just installed one the other day and as far as sound I think it's pretty darn good for just two 3.5 speakers. It will distort some depending on the type of music you are listening to at higher volumes. Songs with alot of bass distort but high treble stuff is fine. I listen to mostly oldies and country so it works for me but forgettaboutit for new wave stuff.
As for the duckbill I think it will hit the unit.
Also if you don't wish to get pissed off by the typical Harley method of not including everything you need for a standard install go buy the $3 relay switch that is required but they don't include. I think the designers at Harley must relay enjoy pissing people off by not including the little (and yes a $3 part on a $400 system is little) things needed to finish the install.
All in All it's the best looking system out there and the sound is good for 3.5 with a 40 watt amp.
