103 to 107 worth it?
I'm about to pull the trigger on this kit and have my Harley mechanic install it he wants about a grand for the complete job....
BEFORE I do anything, after the kit is installed what needs to be done to have the bike rideable and reliable like it is now?
A tune? Intake? I have Rinehart slip ons....if that helps LOL
I want a little more pep and some power the 103 is OK but for this price it seems to be worth the gains?
You'll want a stage 1 air cleaner, tuner and new head pipe match the engine work you are planning.
For comparisons sake, my '12 RGC has a complete stage 1 kit with Rinehart extreme true duals, HD heavy breather and PC-V. It's a nice running 103 with top shelf parts. However, there is no comparision...my Ultra / FM107 is stronger everywhere; alot stronger.
I've looked at it both ways as I plan the additional engine work for my '12 RGC. FM107 or stock 103 bottom with cam and heads. From everything I can tell, the FM107 gives you more tq and equal hp than a 103 with cam and FM heads for less money. I'm going to use the TW-222 cam as part of a FM107 build in the RGC just because I want something different and to see how much torque I can make.
Some guys are happy with a nice stage 1, some guys are happy with a cam swap. I'm really happy with the FM107 kit and I'd tell you it's worth it. If you took a poll of folks that had bought the FM107 kit and had it for a while, there won't be too many that say different.
Good luck.
