Bummer, looks like Hayden has a problem and all of us that got the new style.
What I did takes 4 screw drivers. I took one and slid it between a link in the chain and pushed down hard on the top of the shoe, this got the chain up and out of the deep cut groves until I had clearance to slid another driver in from the side as a spacer. I had to have 3 of them over the top of the shoe, then I was able to pull out the Hayden.
Hayden needs to come up with a fix that they can endorse.
Thank you I will try that. How much longer do you think your old shoe would have lasted?
The reason I ask is in 3 days i have a 1k trip plan and i do not know if the hd part will be in by then.
Gphdxlc my shoe looks just like yours. I installed mine in in may I just open it up now after 7k .
The noise level never went away in fact it has gotten worse . I give up I have order the New HD manual adjustment one . I was unable to get the hayden out How did you remove yours?? Thanks in advance Ripp
IMO, Don't get the HD Manual one if you don't want any noise!.....been the done that.
Get the Baker, you'll be glad you did.
wow! hayden got some problems going on here,so much for buying one of these. hard to believe they put any engineering into these things if this sort of thing is showing up in such a short peroid of time since the new style m6 has been out.
hummm... i have a brand new Hayden in the box...after i read all the post and seen the picture ,not sure i want to install it .
i think i will put it for sale on Ebay !!!
I don't have a newer version so I have no issues with mine, but still don't understand how a roller chain can cut into the shoe past the link depth to the roller, roller won't cut into shoe? Unless there is a problem with the chain?
Well if it does it again and comparing the stock tensioner and the M6 the grooves appear identical, theres no reason to think its not going to be a three-peat. At some point the chain being suspect is going to need further consideration. after seeing the grooves on both blocks, as far as where Im sitting it already is. Whats a chain going for anyway or rig the stock tensioner so its stationary and wont ratchet.

Well after what I have been through and you don't have a new one I would put the stock one back in or your Hayden with just the one spring. But I cant tell you what you should do. Problem is Hayden will not indorse using just one spring.
I only had 3000 miles on mine and it looks like I only have about 1/16" before the chain would be cut all the way thru the top of the shoe on both sides. Well you did get 4000 more miles then I did, but if yours looks as bad as Mine they look like the have 100000 miles on them. My stock one with 17000 miles looks almost new next to the Hayden.
I can tell you that with just one spring my primary whining sound is way better, in fact I'm not sure it even makes that sound at all now.
Odd the things that you feel the Hayden was doing is the same things it's supposed to make better. Lucky for you the stock one works better then the Hayden, on mine I don't feel any deference from the stock or the Hayden.
Perhaps that is an indicater that there is a chain issue? Just trying to think out of the box, there's lots of conspiracy theorists but you do have to wonder how a roller chain is going to eat the shoe down past the links??

My stock shoe has grooves but the rollers never cut in to the shoe. Look very close at the pic of my stock and you can see the roller area is level with the out side edge. I have it right here with me, I think the stock one would had lasted a long time since the rollers had not started to cut in to the shoe. My stock chain was very tight too but not as tight as the new style Hayden. My main reason for buying the Hayden was for the IPB and that whining sound from the primary, at least now with just the 1 spring that sound is all but gone.
What I would like is a fix that would make my primary run like it is now with the Hayden, but with there endorsement.

As Expat1 once said, "why do you need permission to modify it" You know what, it wasn't the first aftermarket part that needed tweeking. I modified mine and it's working perfectly.
