Loud Banging Sound When Accelerating
I need your help. I have a 2008 Street Glide that I put apes on and changed out the clutch cable. When I did this I just hooked everything up inside of the "six speed" cover and did not do any adjustments inside of the clutch inspection cover. It rode great for awhile and just recently I went to accelerate hard in first gear and I can hear a loud banging sound that causes the bike to not want to accelerate and it continues to clunk very loud if I keep accelerating hard. So I was getting on the highway so I continued accelerating slowly until I was up to speed it seemed okay. I dropped into fourth gear and accelerated hard and it worked fine but as soon as I got into lower gears the same loud sound happened so I pulled over and adjusted the clutch cable adjuster and added more tension and it got rid of the clunk for the most part but under very hard acceleration it would still occur but was much more rideable. After a couple more rides it came back and this time so much so that I have to accelerate so slowly to not make it make that loud banging sound that it is pretty much un rideable. Today I took off the clutch inspection cover and did just adjustment per the manual to see if it helped but didn't. Also another note when I brake really hard with my rear brake only it makes a loud banging noise that could be the same as the other noise I speak of but they have not happened during the same ride but maybe they are related.
Any ways sorry for the long explanation but I need help asap because I actually have a buyer for my bike the end of this week that is coming in from out of town so I need this fixed. Any help would be appreciated.
