well got my auto tune, after all the looking and reading about it i never knew the kit used a diff bung hole size than stock. i thought it was a complete plug and play system. now i am looking at my options; 1) scrap the idea of the autotune. 2) cut the weld out and remove the old bungs and replace with the larger. 3) plug the holes and install new bungs in diff spot. 4) drill out the current bungs and re tap them to accept the larger bungs. i dont know if #4 is possible i have not gotten to look and see how much metal is there to see weather i can make it larger. anybody tried this method??
I believe 09 and older pipes have the correct bung size. Also, some of the newer pipes that I came across had both sizes and plugs for the ones you don't need. I'm sure you could cut the old ones out and add new but if some pipes come with both it makes me think they might need to be in different locations. You might want to look into plugging the old ones and just added new ones in the required locations on the pipe you already have. Or get new pipes that already have them. You don't mention your current setup so really cant say if it would be worth replacing what you already have...
sorry i forgot to add, i have the V&H dresser duals. it has the smaller bungs close to the passenger foot peg, same as the stock. i have also not saw the "idea location" for auto tune.
i found a adapter that allows you to run the 18mm in the 12mm hole. it puts the sensor at 45* angle and of coarse will push the sensor out of the direct flow of the exhaust. i dont see it beign a good option in my opinion. here is link to them
Are you running "stock" header on your bike?? If so...my recommendation is to swap with new "aftermarket" header and make sure you order w/correct O2 bung size for your tuner...probably similar cost of modding your O2 bung problem to fit...JMO.

I don't know what kind of bung set up your True Duals have, but the auto tune requires 18mm bungs up close to the cylinder heads. It won't work right if the sensors are located down where the stock ones are at the right floorboard. I drilled mine out myself and had a top notch welding shop tig weld the bungs on. Cost me $40. It's worth the effort.

so closer to the head the better? looks like ill be ordering new bungs. hopefully i can find a welding shop around here that will let me use there tig rig for few min or do it for me but id rather weld it myself.
online easiest place to find the bungs? or does auto parts stores carry them? i already found them online. but if i can get them local might be able to get it took care of this weekend
the bungs need to be close to the cylinder heads, usually within several inches to be effective and pick up the required data. I would obtain the correct bungs and have a good welding shop drill and tap your pipes and weld the correct bungs in. That way the auto tune will function properly.
This is what i did with my set up so now i have both set of sensors in stalled, both narrow band and wide band. I can auto tune in either basic mode or in wide band mode. or i can go back to stock if i need warrenty service
