I have had a few, XiED, TTS, SERT, PCV and Power Vision.
For simple stock or Stage 1 I have had good experience with the XiED family.
To get the most out of a bike I have found the Power Vision to be the best...not that you can get as much out of another tuner, say the TTS, but it is easier and less expensive with the Power Vision...in my experience.
Why can't people just share these things? Like a buddy that lives close to me just hook it up, flash my ECD for my set up? Anyone do this? Is this possible to avoid paying the $200-$400 for a unit or $180 at the stealership?

Because most units "marry" to the bike. So it can't be used on another bike. Some, like the Power Vision will allow you to buy another license for another bike.
after years of using power commanders and dyno my bikes, this time i went with the smoothest route. I ran the vance and hines fuel pack with their pipes, Bike runs better then everything else i have ever done. Which tends to tell me the guys doing the dyno did not really know what they were doing. My bikes runs flawless and like no other set up. Hats off to vance and hines
August 2013 issue of American Iron ran an article on tuners, specifically the ThunderMax. After reading the article it makes me think why in the world anyone would buy anything else. I have the Xieds on my StreetGlide but couldnt tell you if they do anything or not......
