Saddle bag lock spec
I rode down to Pismo beach yesterday with the wife and my dad and mom on their bike. When I arrived and opened the right saddle bag the nut, latch and spring from the lock fell on the ground. I reinstalled the parts and put the nut on finger tight.
I looked in my service manual for the spec on that nut but it didn't cover it. It tells you about every other part on the bag though.
Anybody know the torque spec? I imagine it came with the install instructions for replacement latches (chrome, black etc).
Thanks

just a few ft lbs- snug.
paint the threads with nail polish, also go over all the screw heads with nail polish to help prevent them from backing out.
It's funny this has been mentioned a few times, and I keep a note pad by the computer on things to check on the bike- when I went to look at mine, all the screws and the nut had black nail polish/paint smeared across them. on some of the screw threads I could see threadlocker had been applied
I guess I got lucky with whomever put the hardware on my bags

I use blue loctite on every thing except for what I use red on. When I put my backs back together after painting; blue loctite on the fasteners.
If you aren't going to take them apart, MK's suggestion to use nail polish is tried and true.
