As a rule I don't ride when the roads are wet or forcasted rain. But s*** happens! Last night it rained all evening afterI got to work (sunny all morning don't ya know). This morning the new RKC was a mess. First thing I've noticed is that compaired to the Sporty, this monster is easier to get dirty and harder to keep clean. Maybe after the "new" wears off, I won't loose sleep over it, but had to wash it this morning, couldn't stand it. What secrets do you all have for the whitewalls? The soap bucket doesn't do a real slick job.
Switching to blackwalls when the time comes for replacement. I hate the white walls, they are a pain in the *** to clean. The only time they get a good washing is when the dealer does it after a service.
Westley's Bleach White in the spray bottle is good stuff. I agree with soos about going to blackwalls when you can. The front tire is a whole lot easier than the rear. A lift will help if youcan get the rear tire off the ground and rotate it.
As for washing the beast, I use Bike Brite, a carwash mitten, hot water and my leaf blower to dry the thing off. Then chamois as needed. Fast!
After the newness wears off you might not be quite so uptight.A better thing to do is figure out the easiest way to clean your ride without taking a half a day.I did a long time ago, especially since the riding season is so short up here in the NorthEast.
