Me and my buddies use ours CBs all the time. I don't know too many dealers that have much of a clue about CB radio and because its software driven most CB shops can only determine if it is txing or rxing. Easy to check with SWR meter. What l found to be problem in most cases is following. If TP is removable check connection for separating aerial. If no TP removal check ground in TP and pull connection apart where ground is located. For some reason corodes at this connection. Use some emory cloth to clean up and put dielectric grease in there. Should just pull apart. Check continuity from radio full length of cable. Check ground at both ends of aerial cable. Forgot to say you can see if radio is tx or rx by looking at face of radio. Should light up "cb" icon and channel when tx is pressed. Have someone near by on same channel tx to you. Channel & "cb" icon brighten if tx or rx is working. SWR meter helpful as well. Did you just install any LEDs or other electrics. These may cause problems as well. I couldn' t find anyone that can fix module and Midland CB (maker) says contact MOCO. They will sell new module to you for $399.00. You can buy off this forum for $100 to $150.

If somebody has a CB module that doesn't work I sure would like to have access to it. I've got a good friend that works on CB/Ham for a living and is one of the best repairmen out there. He has never looked a HD CB. I'm thinking he could fix one, but need one to let him look at to know for sure. Any volunteers???

Before your tear into your fairing..... try doing a reset on the HK. A lot of audio problems with cb, NIM, and iPod interface are because the radio freaked out, and a simple reset can make it work again.
1. Press the eject button and remove any CD.
2. Press and hold any two softkeys (numbered buttons 1-6) then turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Once the H-D logo is displayed, the radio’s software does a complete switch check, scans for current DTC’s, and then displays the radio diagnostic display.
4. Release the sofkeys ONLY after the radio diagnostic display appears.
5. Softkey 1 gets you into the reset menu.

i have a 2012 Ultra and just realized it has a slot for a CD. I prefer to hear the roar of the pipes. but thats just me

Thanks Nute for the donation. I will post what we find out. I'm thinking that your suggestions for trouble shooting the HD CB will solve more problems than replacing the CB module itself.

Dealer chased CB problems on my wife's '09 for three years. Followed the MOCO protocol even though I told them repeatedly CB module. Dealer checked grounding, changed antenna, replaced CB cable, changed hand controls, replaced wiring harness. Since under warranty the dealer had to follow these prescribed steps from the MOCO to arrive at the bad CB module. Now all is good, but what a pain in the ***.
