One of the bars in Deadwood at the end of an inclined street filled up chest high with hail as it flowed down the street.
I no longer camp at Sturgis..... I like air conditioning, a real roof, and a real bed........ But I do take a sleeping bag, for the inevitable hail.

i have been to Sturgis every year since 07, chaps are always in the saddlebag, leather jacket always strapped to the backrest, have needed the jacket more than the chaps, but have worn the chaps a time or two.
I do not pack rain gear, it seems by the time you stop to put it on, then you stop again to take it off, often with 20 miles. I just ride and get wet, have figured out, i don't melt, if the rain is bad, just put on leather jacket. IF you ride alot, you have to make some choices as to what to carry.
