OK, I know this subject has probably been beat to death, but looking for some current input. Which plug? Regular or platinum? OEM or other? Any noticeable performance difference? How about reliability experience? Gapped at .040 or other? Do you index?
late models use an ion sensor on the ignition coil.
some plugs may give reading out of "normal" to the sensor, resulting in reduced performance.
some riders have reported problems even with screaming eagle plugs.
on my 09, I just use stock oem plugs- they work great.
on my Evos and Pans I use platinum style plugs, these have less sophisticated ignition systems, and i generally gap as wide as possible without misfiring. each bike is a little different
NGK iridium cooler VRod plugs. Normal gap. Tried indexing but got tired of f'in with washers so its close. Originally went to them when making feable attempts at pinging issues....diff thread.
If ya ever check out the box of lube guys web site, they show ahem, increase in performance with iridium plugs. I dunno, i have used autolite and OEM HD plugs.
