Went to the dealer today to line up a time to get my bike in to have the Race Tuner mapped and went to the parts desk to ask about their prices on the part. He told me it was 454.00. I said Ok thanks and started to walk away. He stopped me and asked if I was going to buy it. I said no and explained that I was going to get it on line for 360.00.
He then went into telling me that I was probably buying it on Ebay and you cant trust Ebay because it is probably used and will not work on my bike. I explained to him that I got it from an HD dealer from their online site. He said Bullshit. So I told him to look it up and gave him 2 email addresses that had it for a HELL of a lot cheaper. www.kutterharleyonline.com and www.lshd1.com He was not happy with me and started telling me that it is those dealers that lower the prices and wont be around for long because Harley will stop them. I laughed and said well Im taking advantage of the price while they are around! Hell Im saving 95 BUCKS, Sorry dealer, but a deal is a deal! Its not like Im buying stolen stuff. Its all above board!
Right on! It sucks to pay top marked up retail prices. Margin is margin, but profit can be had while not burning customer's wallets (IMO).
Paid 7.50 ea. for 2 OEM replacement exhaust gaskets, got ( 2 ) of them from another source originally for $ 10.00
Paid 1.95 for a freaking rubber oil plug O-ring.
A pompous approach, one I would have not taken. Not sure why you would gloat about the other places you found them cheaper. But hey what floats your boat is up to you.
Sounds like you pooped before you perched, they still have to map your bike right?
Sticks and Stones, you call me Pompus, Ive been called worse by better. It was more of a question of why they couldnt or wouldnt offer better prices then the MOCO mandated prices.
Free market captialism. Those with the best prices and services are those standing in the end!
BTW the mechanic doing the work on my bike is a good friend and lives around the corner.

If you of read his post, he said...he walked away!!! Not a pompous approach at all!!! It was well done!!!
My local Harley store charges 8% more for any parts, including those that are in the catalogue. They must think that people are stupid. They sell bikes for MSRP but not parts. Fork em and feed em beans.
To map these bikes is not rocket science. It is a simple EFI system. In ANY parts dept they do sell the cables needed with SE software, and for those that need it a training and users guide.
Pompous... to gather this of him from one post that you don't agree with is surely a mistake on your part. I took it as he was just sharing a situation and sharing a place where he found it cheaper. Is that a bad thing? It happens on these forums all the time. people find a product they like and share or someone found it somewhere else cheaper they share.. But pompous. Cmon man have a drink or a soda " what ever floats your boat" and relax man. All brothers here.
Nothing against the OP, and great he saved some green backs. Just think that rather "gloating" to dealer he found them cheaper, why not ask dealer if he could match a price. These are just people working at a dealer, why treat them like they are an enemy foe.
Not bashing anyone, and kudos to those who feel the OP slayed the dragon.
