Default Helmet help, my Scorpion hurts!

Ok, so I've currently got a Fulmer D4 full face size M that fits fine and I wear this when it's colder or I know I'll be on the highway. Otherwise I go with a Scropion EX-250 3/4 helmet. I like the open face with the 3/4 giving me a better sense of protection on the sides of my face without going with the full face. However the Scorpion always ends up giving me a headache after riding and I have a lot of pressure on my forehead. I suppose you could say I've got the long oval shape or whatever.

So I've been looking at a few helmets and I've narrowed it to the HJC FG-Jet or the Nolan N43.

I like what I've read about the HJC IS-33, and the FG-Jet seems to be the same type/shape, just with a lighter material for just a bit more.

I also like what the Nolan N43 has to offer with the removable chin attachment. This could be nice to keep in my saddlebag to pop on or off if I want. Not too sure how much protection a removable part would really add, but it might be nice.

However I'm not sure how each of these brands fit. Being that I can't seem to find these anywhere in a store, I hate to deal with ordering online and having to send back and forth.

I measure about a 22.5/23in head. Which according to Scorpion is a M, but the L I have hurts like hell so go figure.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

I have the same problem with different helmets. The scorpions with their shape/design is the best fitting helmets I have found. HJC are alright, Nolan doesnt fit well and shoei just hurts.

http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...le-helmets.htm

Webbikeworld does a great job reviewing helmets and most of their reviews tell you what shape the helmet is on the inside. You know that scorpion has an oval long fit, try some other helmets on and take note of their model and you can look up their shape, and hopefully find a shape that works for you.

http://www.motorcyclegear.com/ has a pretty liberal return policy, with no restock fee so I like to shop with them. I think it is 48 for shipping to return something, other than that, return it unused and they will take it back no questions asked.

My helmet hurt my temples after using for awhile so I sanded the foam to fit my head. Problem solved. Not a brand name helmet though.

Helmets vary in size and shape so much (in some I wear a L in others XL) I have to try them on.

Google your helmet of choice with the word "revzilla" and you will see some great review videos. Revzilla.com is very good.

I have the Schuberth C3 and it was tight too, on the forehead. But, it does break in and now is pain free.

You can go in there and just shave a little styrofoam out, or I have heard of people using a hot spoon and compressing the troubled area!

Don't know if you use google, but try it for helmets that interest you, you will be amazed.

And Revzilla has a return policy, so you can return an uncomfortable one...

Crazy good helmet review videos.

Here is the HJC: http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/hjc-fg-jet-helmet

Here is the Nolan: http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/n...otorrad-helmet
(there were a few Nolan's, hope this is the one)

Yea, you *really* want to try them on your head. I was all in a lather over the Nolan N43 myself. Planned to order it from Europe, so I could get the better ventilation system. Finally found a place locally that had them. I really tried to convince myself I liked the way it fit, but honestly, it wasn't good, and I ended up not buying it after all. You really do need to try them on before you buy.

As others have said, nothing beats a try on. One of my helmets is a Shuberth and it fits me fine, but most people say they can't wear it. If I had not tried one on I would have skipped it and missed a fine helmet. In lieu of a try-on the revzilla and webbike world resources are great ... Cheers

Check with Scorpion. Depending on the shell you may be able to get a large interior to swap out. If so PM me as I think I have one.
