I got one of the red $65 jacks at one of the auto discount places. I've changed my rear wheel, done some motor wrenching and use it to wash the bike. It works fine. I'd love to have a full lift but it's expensive and I don't have the room for it. Be careful with the jack. Because my bike tends to lean forward on the jack, I put a couple of bricks under the front wheel when I'm working on the bike to give a third point of contact. If I'm going to do a lot of heavy work, such as changing out the rear wheel, I tie the bike off on both sides of the garage to prevent a spill.
I can appreciate all of the benefits with the better quality jacks BUT cannot see myself storing the bike while it is on the jack...hydraulic seal leaks...jack drops...my $30,000 ULTRA starts a balancing act with dire consequences...no thanks...that is why we have wheels & a jiffy stand!
What are you talking about? The weight of the bike isn't on the hydraulics of the jack when in storage, the jack can't drop. Go to a store and see one.
Have the yellow jack from sears, get a little nervous putting the RKC on it though, the front end is up in the air and it barely fits across the frame.Used it only twice so far so it could be an experience thing though. Good jack $70 on sale.
