no but should not be a big issue just don't mix radial and bias Metzelers. Or any tire for that matter. Love my 880s might try the 888 when I need tires in a few years.
This from the metzler website, is the 888 a radial?
Steel radial
Innovative belt structure with a single ply of steel cords wrapped around a radial carcass at 0°. Patented high performance technology by Metzeler for both front and rear tyres.
Steel features a higher stiffness than textile and this allows the reduction of the tyre weight.
Steel radial belt reduces the dynamic deformation of the tyre under centrifugal forces giving the tyre an excellent high-speed stability. Thanks to the more uniform heat distribution, mileage is increased and wear characteristics are more uniform.
Not sure on a touring bike but a buddy has a bias and a radial on his Deuce. Since, the bike handles like crap. I had to ride it once and was very uncomfortable. I recently put the 888 on the rear of my Road King and love the 888. Hated the Michelin Commander II since I put them on. Replaced the rear at 8K with 2/32 left. Now can't wait to get rid of the front MC II.
