I like the Vance and Hines Twin Slash Ovals. They are double walled so you don't have to worry about them turning. They have the sound you are looking for. If you are on a budget you can get the Twin Slash Rounds. They sound great also. I don't think they are quit as lound as the ovals but for some reason are quite a bit cheaper. I like the looks of the ovals and have had them on several baggers.

The best advice I can give you is to find some other riders local to you that you can listen to before you buy.

This is good advice here. Go to some biker events and check out what others have and ask questions. Then go to the local HD Shop and ask their parts department some questions. Email Fuel Moto and get some advice on their products and prices too.

Very happy with my 4" jackpots from Fuelmoto. Quiet enough rolling down the road, enough rumble at idle, On throttle they sound great. If not what you want additional baffles can be purchased to go louder or quieter.

welcome to the forums, this is popular subject #1.

search out some of the many threads on this.

but the best advice is you go & hear some other bikes. ( jeez go to Sturgis)

take your time, ask questions.

considerations are do you want to hear the radio? do you plan on any distance riding? ( loud pipes are a bummer 3 hours into a 8 hour day), performance? louder does not always mean more power...and some pipes deliver great power without being overly loud.

make your 1st purchase the correct one...some of the guys are on set 3 or 4 of pipes $$$$

this line of logic follows through with every purchase, modification and fixit chore on the bike.
If time is on your side you can get great results and low cost.

Best advice has already been given - go to some rally's/events & listen for the sound you are after. If possible, ask them what they're running- head pipe, air cleaner, slip-ons, cams, etc. Each mod can change the sound from bike to bike.
As also already stated- loud pipes can get weary after several hours in the saddle. What sounds cool blasting around town can actually get annoying running down the highway all day long.
Personally- I like the CFR sound and I was running the knock off versions for quite awhile. Killer sounding low end- chest thumping is the best way I can describe it. But the sound changed after installing V&H Dresser Dual headers- they got way louder when cracking it open and the drone I heard while running down the highway for hours & hours on end was a bit much for me. After several months with many long all day rides- my ringing ears had had enough.
It was enough for me to look for an alternative. I found American Custom Bomber slip ons. They're HD stock pipes with the guts bored & interchangeable baffles available.
I think they are very reasonably priced & I actually like the stock pipe look. I went with the stock "Big Growl" baffles, which I find to be perfect. They are plenty loud enough for me with the V&H duals I have and they have a good deep tone.
Everyone has different thresholds for "loud", but I can now ride all day, still hear my tunes fine & have no ringing ears at the end of the day.
I'm very happy with the performance, sound, looks & price and feel no reason to look any further.
Good luck in your search.

I've had a lot of different pipes on different bikes. On my '11 Limited I went with HD Fatshotz (made by Supertrapp). They're pretty close to the Monster Ovals (maybe a little quieter). Louder than stock and I can hear the radio.

Just installed Jackpot 4" Dyno's this weekend (103", stock gutted header & TW222 cams). Great idle, sound good around town and nice on the freeway with no "drone" effect yet (only about 300 miles so far and I know they are gonna get a bit louder). However, get a little happy with the throttle and you'll get peoples attention! Maybe too much attention for this old man! Time will tell.
