My 04 TC 88 is going in for the hydraulic cam chain tensioner upgrade kit. While it's opened up, I figure it's a great time to upgrade the cams. The only other prior mods are a Stage 1 upgrade. I know the choices are somewhat limited to which cams I can switch to. My question is, with the upgrade of the hydraulic cam chain tensioner kit, does this open up any other cams that I should be looking at that I couldn't have considered prior to this upgrade?
Right now my choice is the Andrews TW 21 cam. I ride solo/2 up 50/50 of the time and want a low to mid range cam.
Get the 21. I absolutely love it in my TC88. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. Improve how we ride everyday. Low and mid power improvement is huge. I did it with my SE Hydraulic upgrade.
I know this doesn't answer your question, but I can't say enough good things about this cam in an 88" motor.
BTW, what is the stealer quote for the SE Hydraulic upgrade? I plan to have it done this Fall. Things here in Dallas seem to be really high from what I'm reading. Thx. LR.
I tried to test as many cams as I could before i did the same upgrade on my 99 TC88, I went with the SE 204 cams, liked them better then the Andrews 21, look at the specs on them both, if you tried them both you would go with the SE 204's
When I did the tensioner upgrade in my 06 Ultra, I went with the Andrews 26 and couldn't have been happier. Gained a little over 5hp and 10 lbs torque after. My indy did the SE tensioner, oil pump and cams with a dyno for $1300.
