Default 103 cubic inch

I've got a 2003 Road King Classic with 30K, that I bought new (it's stock). I'm thinking that I want a new 103 Electraglide Classic, and the dealer has one he wants to sell me. Can anyone out there, with the 103, give me some advice. I've been out of the market 10 years. Thanks, I look forward to anyone's comments.

Your question is way general...

well, the frame changed into 2009 which most of us feel was a huge advance.

the 103 is a stroked and bored version of the 88 it is more powerful by about 20%..which may be nice.
the new EFI system is really good, abs brakes are more available and REALLY useful esp on wet roads, or on dirt, gravel etc.
cruise control and security usually come as a package with the ABS

you'd get the reassurance of a newer machine.

the 2003 will hold some value ( don't assume the "100th means anything.... HD produced 420,000 2003 model year bikes).

The CDN introduction of the 2014 models is at Digby coming up in a few weeks.

Mike

HD touring bikes have been improved in so many ways since you bought your 03. New frame, upgraded motor and accessories. All 2013 touring bikes now come with 103 displacement, no worries. Buy it and enjoy.

Had an 88 in my 93 Softail and thought it was underpowered, upgraded to an 96 in 07 Street Glide and thought that was much better. Now have 103 in 2012 Street glide, and it is even better still. Lots of torque that makes 2 up riding, even fully packed a joy to ride.

Seems that like many things in life...bigger is better.

Seriously, Harleys put a lot of work in inproving their bikes year after year.

Thanks alot for your favourable comments. There are more reasons to uprade than there are to keep old Betsy. You mentioned that, the Cdn. introduction of the 2014 will take place in Digby N.S. in a few weeks. It may be good to wait a few weeks to see what the new line up will look like. Thanks again.

If you can get and do a trial ride when the local stealers have their test runs, try a couple of the newer ones and see for yourself. The obvious have been stated, but try and see if the upgrades are worth it to you. There are guys who have test ridden newer ones and claim they wouldn't take one if you gave it to them. This may or may not hold merit, but it certainly is worth a test ride or 2. I know one of my local stealers has test rides every Saturday of the various offerings, and there is no better way to help you decide if its worth it.
