"33035-08 TRANSMISSION, 6-SPD SPUR, BLAC, this part has a new number and price please order 33166-10A."

Does that help?! From a UK HD dealer's website.

Thanks but I know the new P/N but HD wont sell the -10A for the 08 for some reason. I have had a suggestion that the 322280-13 is also a replacement, that is why I'm trying to find out any fitment & technical differences between the 10A & the -13.

The plot thickens! #33166-10A is described as "WRNTY TRANS,6-SPD HELICAL,BLAC", which I interpret as meaning it is for use only in warranty claims. That suggests it was probably never available for sale and why nobody will sell it to you. Doesn't help much I know, but eliminates that one.

Going from GR research, It is for use only in warranty claims probably means it's a rebuild from one that was returned. Any warranty work like an engine or transmission is going to get a rebuild unit. Same with cars and trucks. Also appears your 10 is black finish. 13 is for the police model (maybe unfinished) think your 08 part number is no longer current. Also saw close to $600 difference in price range. Shop around? HA

From what I have seen is that the first 6 Speed was 4helical, 2 straight cut gear sets, famous for 5th gear whine, then the full helical in 2009 for the '10 models, then another redesign for thrust control in the trans? I think this is the design that started the neutral rattle question in '13 models.

the -10a is for sale on the surdyke.com website. $1226

also for sale on the Latus HD site, $300 more.

it would be of use to know the gear ratios inside the tranny.

i need a tranny for my 07 electra police and would like to keep the same gear ratios. much better gearing for lower rpms. the 6speed in my 13 streetglide is much higher and comes off the line like a dog.

AND...the $1226 is much cheaper than bringing it to a shop to be rebuilt

EDIT : surdyke lists the -13 as B/C/C police touring for what it's worth. $1425.

call surdyke. they must have info on the two trannys, although no info is listed in their online listing.
