Just got back from Sturgis and while there tried charging my I phone in the cig lighter on a 2012 FLHX, light comes on on the charger, but after an hour or two still no charge. the same charger works fine in the GMC. Any body have any suggestions?

That doesn't make any sense. My guess is that it won't work in the GMC any more either. The one thing you can check is with a voltmeter, make sure the polarity is correct on your lighter socket. I have never seen it (and not sure I believe it) but some have reported their bike's lighter wired backward from the factory.

Same thing happened to me, wouldn't charge with neither the car charger nor the wife or my home charger. I thought the battery was bad. Took it in to an Apple store, the young Tech found the problem right away.Talk about being embarrased, turned out to be pocket lint up in the charging port so it wasn't making contact with the cord. I suggest if you're going to probe in the port for lint make sure the phone is off that way you avoid shortening anything.Hope this helps.
Had the same trouble with my iPhone and iPod not charging.............However after I twisted the plug in the cigarette lighter a little the phone started charging. So maybe your not getting a good connection inside the cigarette lighter socket. Least ways that was the issue I saw but after twisting it a little it charged just fine.
All you need to do is twist it a little as suggested. The LED can come on when it's not really making a good connection sometimes.
And yes, there have been reports where the cig lighter plug was wired incorrectly. Maybe something worth checking with your volt/ohm meter. If you don't have one, borrow one just to see. Even wired backwards, the cig lighter will heat up and work, but other polarized devices that require a hot center will not, such as your charger. And even some of those devices can be damaged because of the backwards polarization in the event it is actually wired incorrectly.
