Question Formula + transmission

I bought my 2012 Street Glide with 10,000 miles on it. Today I just turned 15,000. Next weekend I am going to do my 15,000 mile service myself. Is the HD formula + synthetic? I am thinking about going synthetic. Thinking about going synthetic motor oil also. If I go synthetic in one lubricant, might as well go synthetic in all fluids.

Thanks

Formula + is great for the primary, though it's not synthetic. Change it every 5,000 miles and call it good. Use a quality synthetic gear oil in the transmission (like Mobil 1) and change it every 10,000 miles.

Best of my knowledge is that is mineral oil, not syn. Also, I wouldn't put it in anything other than the primary chain case. You really don't need syn in there but I'm sure someone will disagree. In the oil section, you will find quality recommendations for motor oil and tranny fluid. I prefer Mobil 1 oil and Red Line heavy shockproof. Have tried all others but that combo seems to work best for me. I sometimes use the Formula+ in the primary but not always. You can't go wrong with it. Good luck.

I use the recommended fluids in my machines.

synth won't work in the panhead, evo and old cadillacs...but sure does in teh twin cam.

and the high heat means that the oil has to be robust

the formula + has worked fine in my tranny and primary so far. no reason to change

I use Formula+ 50W conventional oil in the transmission and primary on my 2009 SG. From 2009 to last fall I used HD Syn3 and Mobile1 in all three holes. Found the engine and transmission to be noisier with Mobile1. Last fall I changed to Formula+ in the primary and transmission and Lucas Syn 50W in the engine. The engine and transmission are definitely quieter and never had any excessive primary noise. The Formula+ is 50W and one of many motorcycle gear oils that works well in the transmission.

Formula+ in the primary for me. I'm running BelRay Gearsaver hypoid 85-140 in the trans and it made it smoothed it up a ton.
