Roadstar is making this much harder than it is. He obviously doesn't know what to do and, IMHO, needs to call a couple of the forum sponsors, I.e., Scott @ Hillside Cycles and Kirby @ VTwin Performance and let one of them put together a build package. Take the mystery and guesswork off the table and go with a plan that has predictable results.

Your Harley is not your Yamaha The big difference is the bore and stroke. 3.75 bore x 4.00 stroke Harley Vs 3.74 bore x 4.48 stroke Yamaha - Your Yamaha has a stroked V-Twin which requires a bottom end rebuild with stroker wheels in your Harley The 95" big bore kit above changes your 88" to 95" by changing bore to 3.875" and leaving stroke at 4"
Also your Yamaha is alot lighter than your Harley, plastic chrome on your V Star is Steel or ALuminum chrome plated on your Harley.
I have supplied a list of parts for TC88 upgrades using Harley parts with numbers
I see your point, what you mean about the HD being a different bike, it is a lot heavier.

Good place to start. Get all your questions on paper before the call, take notes because you will be calling back. Do not think any question "stupid"; you are calling to learn. Listen and get comfortable with one or the other and pull the trigger.
