Hope it all goes well. I'd take it easy on the installation fluid at least until I had the new clutch cable screwed back into the tranny cover. That can be a real bitch if your a little too "happy".
Fairing is off (bitch)
Wiring has been pulled off and pins out of connectors (bitch)
Handlebar controls off (not a bitch)
Exhaust loose over transmission cover (sort of a bitch)
Handlebars loose, and ready to be replaced (easy)
Gonna pull wires through bars tomorrow morning and run wire pins back through harness..... Plug everything up, fire it and make sure all wiring is good. Disconnect, place bars and torque. Later on I'll tackle the brakes, clutch cable, adjust clutch and hopefully finish up by early afternoon....... Then watch other riders turn green with jealous rage!
Not sure if I'm allowed to post this link (mods please remove if necessary) but this site was a great help when installing my apes and the TBW/TGS issues with that bloody green connector. I ended up buying the CVO one which was long enough for 16 inch Wild1's without requiring wiring extensions and eliminated any issues with the sensor.
Might want to take a look at your steering head bearings while ya got everything apart. I'm told the factory is guilty of not lubing those right.
Mine was dry on my 07 when I bought it. I just used the grease fitting though, didn't actually look at anything. Probably put 1/2 a tube of grease in before it started coming out of the top, and the grease had zero indication that there was any in there before.
Throttle by wire sensor is too long for bars!!!!! The internal wiring indent is really deep and long..... Worked 2 hours to get that damn wiring through, only to find out the damn TBW mechanism was too long! FML!
