I agree also to a certain extent, but the numbers do mean something if the numbers were gathered in the same way.

Consistent dyno sheets with similar builds is the only way I know to make a decision on best bang for the buck.

To say the numbers mean nothing is just as silly as saying the numbers mean everything. I think everyone would agree that it is unlikely to get better performance from a motor with less hp and tq. The only problem is making sure the numbers are real.

...but I don't really think those numbers are true.

I have a 103 with V&H slip-ons, SE heavy breather, and SE Racing tuner. Took it to a great dyno tuner near San Jose (Horsepower Express). Max torque of 106.69 at 3600 RPM and max HP of 86.12 at 4800 RPM.

I would take it back to the dealership and express your "displeasure" at getting readings that were darn near impossible (unless you had a S&S motor). I had a similar experience at a HD dealership and got them to refund my money.

Cheers,
Skippy
I had my motor done at the same place, he used STD smoothing and said my 103 was 108/116, He told me the difference is only 1-2% which is more like 10-11%. I took it to another place because HPE is out of business and it was 95hp only.
Had it rebuilt a couple months ago with welded crank, 10.5:1 comp 585 grear drives and MVA heads Supertrapp 2:1 with a power commander, at SAE smoothing its 101/109ish. A lot of tuners like to inflate their numbers because owners want bragging rights....

A friend of mine owns a dyno. He tuned my old 95" and it came out 99/105. I told him I was a little disappointed. He said 'wait a minute' went back into the dyno room, made some adjustments to my bike and his dyno, came back with 102/110. He said the first numbers are real, but he can manipulate the bike and the drum to add, or subtract peak numbers. As far as I was concerned, if the bike ran good (and it did) that's all that mattered.
