I back it out of it's parking place, start the engine, count 10 or 15 unless I get distracted by a good lookin' mamma then kick it in gear and be gone 10 to 15 MPH for 200 yards to get to a street then haul A$$!
Ride it like I stole it!
I let it idle til the rpms settle to around 1000 rpm.
That's pretty much the way I warm up my engune, too. I take that time when the engine is warming up to put on my ear plugs, helmet, jacket, hop on the bike, turn on my Bluetooth headset and make sure it's connected to the iPhone, select the tunes on my phone and hit play, and put the gloves on. About two to three minutes. Once the RPM is about 1000, i put the bike in gear and ride to the church right across the street from my house and do a few figure 8's and full-lock U-turns at low speed in their parking lot and then get on the road.
I warm mine up till the rocker boxes feel warm to the touch. The time that takes will vary slightly with temperature of the ambient air and exposure to sun light if it was outside, but not long usually.

This sounds like a reasonable approach to me although I don't want my fingerprints all over my shiny chrome rocker boxes... So I just give it a minute or two at a minimum and usually five or six when starting it for the first time of the day.
