Cruising down the highway, I notice a dump like truck right lane cager in the left lane doing the same speed. Then the truck hits a bump and the bike got sprayed with about 10-15 little rocks WTF all I heard was tink tink tink, I was pissed to say the least, couple nicks but man what a way to ruin a ride.. Ok end of rant.
ANY dump like truck, I treat them like they're radioactive and get away from them PDQ. If it's one lane and they're in front, I'll get back as far as I can.
I had a similar experience. A pickup truck towing a trailered Bobcat went around me, and just as he is ready to move over into my lane, he hit a bump and there were 4-5 rocks about the size of golf ***** come off the trailer. One hit me in the shoulder, one hit me on the helmut just above the visor, and 2-3 others went right on by. I was pissed, but also elated that nothing hit my bike! So, I guess I'd rather get beaned than see a dent on the bike.
They've been putting down fresh hot top on the highway I ride to work every day. They haven't been able to do it all in one shot, so every day the break between new and old is in a different spot, and the seem is COVERED in small bits of asphault. Definitely not where I want to be on my brand new bike.

Did it do any damage to your bike?
It was the ******* going the same speed in the left lane that got me in trouble, needless to say after I got the first time I made that cager get OUT of my way. Oh and i'll be way more careful next time.. Got a couple nicks on the fairing..
Watched a two inch rock bounce down the road coming straight at me. Expecting all kinds of sheet metal damage. Hit my leg instead. Left a large very black andpurple bruise. I was happy. End of story.

Yea, lots of **** can ride on that shelf at the bottom of the dump gate. The least little bump and off it comes. Stay away from them or get around them quickly. Don't know what else to say.
Nevada is jokingly called the worlds largest rock farm. We have multiple rock crushing plants out in the desert. Every day you see gravel trucks, some are triple trailers, hauling down the road spraying everything behind them. You have to be aware of whats around you & either slow down or speed up to get away from it.
LOL, I know what you mean bro. My f-150's windshield is a rock magnet, hehe. Have to steer clear of them and log trucks.
Just got popped the other day, wasn't near a dump truck, but heard a sound like a bullet hit my windshield, and there it was, a 6 inch crack across the "F-150" logo just behind the mirror. Just as well, I have 3 other nice chips in the windshield I picked up on I-287, each just a bit too small to be filled in, and this only in the last 10 months on a brand new 2012 truck.
This will be my SECOND F-150 windshield in the last 2 years, would have been number 3 but Sandy deep-sixed my 2011 truck a few days before the windshield was scheduled to be replaced for the second time.
