never flushed one with alcohol but have flushed wit the right fluid until I am sure its flushed out.No matter what he did the rear brake should not been affected which I seem to understand is what is taking place.I would flush it from the reservoir down to the calipers until I am sure its flushed then rebleed the brakes.Intersting thing I found on my streetglide with the same symptoms was the abs side wheel bearing was out
OK, willing to try anything. Why would I do this? Is flushing the system with DOT 4 not adequate? Thanks.
Question. Why do I want to do anything to the rear brakes? Are they part and parcel of the front brakes. The INDY only installed handlebars and a longer brake line. Is the rear anti lock system part of the front?
It was just a general comment about brake bleeding. I would think you would only have to do the front brake.
Thanks for all the fast replies. I might try to drain, blow out the system, run denatured alcohol threw it and re-bleed the system. Might be worth one more shot. At this point, I am not comfortable pulling the entire ABS system apart and cleaning it. From these replies however, as well as a bit of independent research, I do agree that for whatever reasons, the system does need to go too the dealer for some sort of setup programing. So if re flushing and filling doesn't work, the bike goes right to the stealership. Fortunately, the dealer I bought it from has long Sunday hours, so I have plenty of time to mess with the bike and still get the bike there today. Thanks for all the input.
As others have stated, "bring it to your local dealer" in order to get it done correctly. Afterall, brakes are an item that you really don't want to dick around with.
make sure to get back and let us know how you make out. good luck....after one more try, i suspect that a trip to the dealer might be in order and fess up to what went on.....with the indy paying for it
