Curious what yall use to prevent rust on your chrome parts, geared more for the ppl who leave there bikes outside under a cover. Any info advice is apperciated.
i think the key is to keep it from piting in the first place. i've used neva dull....works well as it has an abrasive wool in it. also have used a chrome paste...might be ******* or something. its hard keeping up with it. had a yamaha outside all the time and it didn't get too bad. i also used one of those cycle shelters before i got my garage http://www.cycleshelter.com/ helped quite a bit and i think worked better than a plain cover.
Lots of wax, If leaving for a long time like that say all winter I would put a light film of grease over any thing exposed and wash off in The spring. If you live in a salt use state be sure to completely wash bike if you have ridden at all during adverse weather especially early fall and spring. Under fenders and motor wash and rinse well
do not cover until the bike is cool, do not allow the sun to beat down creating a heat tent- this'll cause condensation
keep the bike clean- dirt holds moisture
keep it waxed
I have had a number of bikes parked in garden type tin sheds over the years in various climates, a breathable sheet worked well for this, keeps the dust off
