With the elimination of the mechanical cruise cable adjuster, the tolerance slack-ups are intended to result in a cable that is too long. During the routine, the system calculates the number of "motor steps" the cable is pulled before the throttle plates are moved (a maximum of 200 motor steps equivalent to 1.2 inchs of 31 mm).
