The SG Special also has the linked ABS standard, the premium rear shocks and a painted inner fairing. Along with the better sound system that you mentioned you also get the larger (6.5 in. compared to 4.5 in.) screen.
I'm really liking what I see with the new bikes. For the past few days I've read post after post with guys bitching and whining about what Harley has done. Before that, it was constant bitching and whining about Harley NOT doing anything to update the bikes. You just can't make some people happy. I think the 2014's are beautiful and awesome machines. Are they perfect? No, but what is? I want one!! If I had the money I would go get one today. Since I can't do that, I told my wife we should save up and wait for the 2015's so Harley can work out the little bugs that always seem to pop up with new designs.
I have been to several local dealers and I have to say I like the changes the vent isn't as bad in person Im looking at a new Limited and see one in the near future I have been reading a lot of complaints I think its about time they made major changes....
I actually like the changes. Went and looked at a Vivid Black Limited today. Played with the radio, vent, bags lids ect. They finally got it right with the bags and tour pack lid. Huge improvement and I think most would agree. The radio was easy to operate and I actually put on gloves to see if it would operate they way they showed. Was able to go through the functions with no problems. The only thing I would have liked to do was put on a thicker pair of gloves to see how it would do. Over all impressive. They fired it up for me and it was a much improved sound over the 13's and below. The instrument panel was a lot easier to read and over all a lot cleaner look than what I was expecting. the slot to put in a ipod or iphone was a little small so not sure you can get anything bigger than that in there. If you have a older bigger model IPod you might be out of luck but I would have to double check to see. Wasn't too crazy about the lowers but they kind of grew on me as I was standing there.
All in all there isn't much of a difference between what I read on the CVO Limited and looking at the Limited in person. With the CVO obviously you get the 110, heated seats, bag and tour pack lining and the upgrade foot controls (floorboards, shift linkage, pegs ect. If I were to get one I would go with the Limited and spend another 2K to get the foot control stuff and heated seats. Have a test ride on Saturday and if I like it enough might trade out my 12 CVO.
I must agree the improvements are excellent. Linked brakes, stiffer front end, more power, more storage, fantastic rims, 2" more room better rear speakers, improved for reliability in the electrical system with a 30amp fuse and only two other fuses. Much stronger attachment for the saddle bags and muffler.
And more while loosing 15 lbs in the process.
The new breather eliminates the need to buy a stage one breather. Many other features eliminate the need to change things as they are at that level stock.
Good job HD! You hit it out of the park.
Pssst: don't pass it on but the higher up and further back under the tour pack license bracket should not show up on the toll booth cameras. Not that I would try that. HeHe
Some nice new features like the new switches new screen and buttons Battery charge lead and the colours not sure about that ugly vent though!!!! what is it supposed to do???? spray you with water when rains.
The vent is there to cool you off when the radiators get too hot.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the MOCO is doing what it needs to stay compliant and competitive.
Liquid cooled - mandated by the EPA. Also note, that with the new liquid cooled motors - there is MORE TORQUE acheived through higher compression. That's a good thing.
Infotainment - there are hundreds of threads on here about GPS, iPhone, do-hickeys, etc. - the MOCO took care of many of those things.
But I'm keeping my '13. Why you ask? Because I just got it and I love it!
The EPA did not mandate liquid cooling. If they did, Indian, Victory and Yamaha V-Twin engines would be liquid cooled, as would all of Harley's 2014 engines. Furthermore, Polaris would not have spent millions of dollars developing a new air cooled V-twin, just to have it become obsolete.
The EPA mandates HC, CO and NOX standards, cold start, drive away standards and evaporative emission standards. Those standards have not changed since the 2010 Tier II implementation (the year that the Cat went into the head pipes).
