Infotainment - there are hundreds of threads on here about GPS, iPhone, do-hickeys, etc. - the MOCO took care of many of those things.
That's because the majority of people who frequent a forum are fairly tech savvy.
Or course, the majority of Harley owners are NOT on this forum and do not use GPS, ipods, etc. on their bikes so the MoCo forcing this Infotainment on bikes is a complete step in the wrong direction IMHO.
The MoCo has made too many drastic changes for one model year. I get it that the baby boomers are starting to die off and that they want to attract a younger market but adding new technology to a line of bikes that are built on tradition and heritage is the wrong thing to do. Harley has basically moved towards being more like an metric with a lot of it's new high-tech features.
I still don't care what anybody says. The "mail slot" is fugly and should be an option for all the minivan drivers who don't realize your head is going to get moved around a bit at 75 mph on a motorcycle.
I like all the changes including the slit in the fairing. Only other thing I think Harley should have done was put the 110 motor in the heaviest thing they make, the trike.

Way to sell out MoCo.
You have to be kidding me...
You really think the MoCo sold out because they put a touchscreen radio and a few safety / convenience items on their touring models??
Maybe they should go back to building the knucklehead that was prone to oil leaks and bikes with single leading drum brakes and when all the boomers die, they should just fold. At least they will have held on to their heritage and tradition!!!
yeah cause you with your 2003 were so into trading out of that old bike if they didn't redesign the batwing
come on, you are exactly the person that HD didn't care about with these upgrades
if you are riding a 10 year old bike that your own model has gone through signifigant changes in those 10 years you are not the target for HD
they are in the business of selling bikes, these changes will help them sell bikes
As an owner of an almost 10 yr old bike..I love the advancements and best of all I get to keep my "vintage 2005 bar hopper/short ride" AND get a new up to date cross country touring bike..
I have my sights set on the new RG if and when they come out. I do hope they upgrade the plastic, cheap looking dash with a nicer material. HD put a lot of time and effort into these changes to stay current...hats off...
The water cooling and ABS isn't consumate with industry standards. I have ABS on one of my Harleys but it isn't as good as ABS on just abour every other bike out there. Because HD wanted to hide the tone ring it updates slower (on and off) than a well designed system.
Water cooled? Meh...they water cooled the exhaust port; nothin else. Again, compared to a truly water cooled machine (heck even the V Rod) it's a job only half done. I won't thank them for that.

Ya, and they didn't do an orange SG, they get no thanks from me. In your face MOCO, in your face.
Well, they did make a lot of changes for one model year. I really don't care for all the made in China plastic parts. Maybe the fairing would look better with the cheesy plastic painted. I'm thinking about switching to BMW if HD continues down this path. I might as well buy a Honda Goldwing if I want a lot of cheesy plastic and water cooled. If the touchscreen craps out from 110 degree heat and sun it would likely set me back a small fortune in cash.
