I did NOT like having to take my eyes off the road to page through the menus etc.
too dangerous.
I mount my ipod/iphone in a clear front holster so i can see the screen, i use it for maps and directions aside from music/podcasts.
I use an adapter which gets the audio in, and charges.
cheep and easy

You can use the Ipod with the interface the same as mounting it when you can see it. it's just on the radio instead.
Just use it on all music/shuffle and your done. If you want a particular artist or song you do have to search just like on the Ipod looking at it.
maybe I do not understand.
I do have the HD garmin zummo but did not want it connected to the system.
I really like having the Ipod interface.
to each their own.
I use a Garmin gps with mp3 capabilities. It is hardwired to the bike with the audio output plugged into aux/input on the HK stereo. Works like a charm.
only if it works...there was a post last night from an unhappy zumo owner..paid $1000 at the dealer for it... and now no maps, no xm, no mp3's
Good point I'll have to dig up that post because if I'm not mistaken he was mad because they were charging him labor. If there wasn't wired in to some kind of interface what would the labor be for?
I keep 2 8 gig Ipods in the sleeve of the saddle bag. 2 different types of music. Takes about a minute to change them out.
One is for me and one is for my wife.

There is always a chance that any system will fail, break, need warranty replacement.... I believe the vast majority of the Road Tech Zumo's work just fine. Mine has worked perfectly since installed with the interface.
I have the HDPLUS2 IPod interface and my IPhone is mounted on my bars. I can use google maps, stream audio or listen to music. It charges when plugged in.
The thing is I don't have a smart phone so mounting an Iphone on the bars and using it for everything is just not an option for me.My phone is paid for by my employer and while it's really nice to not have a phone bill it's also not a really nice phone.I will not likely need a GPS till next summer but I plan on traveling on this bike and I will definitely need one.I use my Ipod every day and while it will go for several days between charges it is a pain in the *** constantly removing it for security and charging.I usually either listen to playlists or set it on shuffle before I take off but it would be nice to have a little more control on the fly.For those with the Zumo how hard is it to use the MP3 feature is it compatible with Itunes?
