I have a 2012 FLHTC. (Electra Glide Classic) Here lately, when I turn the switch on to start the bike, my little check engine light doesn't come on sometimes. No big deal I thought. When it does that, my little red key will. The shutting the rear cylinder down light. (Not sure what it's called) and won't go off maybe 30-45 seconds after it is running. Usually it goes off right away with the amber check engine light. Now....I was going down the road yesterday, my cruise control light goes out, and the cruise stopped working. CHIT! I didn't panic, but was concerned and kept riding. All of the sudden the radio fires up, cruise comes back on, the check engine light comes on and the little red key lights up! Radio shuts down, light go off and the bike keeps riding just fine. (It maybe pissed cuz I looked at a 2014 yesterday)
My question is, should I try pulling the main fuse out for a minute or so and try to reset the ECM, or something? I did that when it went in limp mode at a gas pump when it was new, and that fixed it right away and has never done it again. Yes it's under warranty, but don't want to tie it up a few days in the shop and them say it's not doing it now. I'm just not sure with all that going on if I'll hurt something else.
Any thoughts or suggestions (not go get a 2014) would be appreciated!

i don't have answers for you, but if the check engine light doesn't come on when you turn the ignition on, you have a problem. all the lights are supposed to light before you start the bike. that way you know that the lights actually work.
as far as the 'parade mode' light, i don't have a clue what you're talking about as there isn't one.
your warranty will be ending soon (ish), let the dealer deal with it. better to let them have it a couple of days then to deal with a problem yourself that is a major headache shortly after your warranty expired because you 'band-aided' it along that far.
you can try pulling the fuse. certainly won't hurt anything.
The only 'parade mode' light that I know of is the cruise control light. Turn your ignition switch on but do not start the bike, roll the throttle all the way off (forward) and hold it. Within a few seconds the cruise control light will come on and be either red or green. If it is red that means your 'parade mode' is not turned on. Turn the ignition off and repeat the procedure and that will turn it on.
As far as all your other lights turning on and off, your bike may be possessed.
That's kinda what I was thinking. Possessed!! When the radio came on, on its own, even the wife on back said " look at that chit!".... I'm going to pull the main fuse in the morning, replace it and head to HD... No use waiting till I'm in the Smokies and don't have cell service to call for help.
sounds like you have a bunch of wires shorted.. that is more then just a confused computer that needs resetting.
Thanks j1mmy. Those are the words I was looking for. (Confused Computer) I've about made up my mind to leave it alone and take it to H-D. They are the only ones that have been behind the batwing to install a new radio last year. Let them have it a few days and hope it's nothing major.
Dumb question but when was the last time you changed the battery in the key fob? $2.00 may save you 20K.
No, not a dumb question really. BUT, I don't have a key fob.
Went to the dealer first thing this morning. As I figured, they are full up with services, so I have an appointment for this Thursday morning. Because the cruise went out, momentarily, it could be a brake light switch going out, but some kinda sensor somewhere is going bad too. Loose wires, they just will not know till they can investigate it further than just what I am telling them. When I left there, it was still doing crazy things. Service manager said if its still running ok, ride it. If It shuts down and I'm stuck somewhere, they will come get it. No problem. They will, they have before and don't charge me. They treat me and the bike right..
Trying to reset the ECM by pulling the main fuse out and replacing it won't do it he said. Something else is wrong..
