I don't have a recurve you speak of but do have a shorter windshield from Clearview that flips up a little on top. It's the only shield I use. I prefer to look over, I find that the taller shields that I look over when sitting up tend to put the top edge right it my line of sight. I have put thousands of miles on with the shorter shield, the only way for me. I say shorter because I forget if it's 8" or 10", all I know is I look over the sheild and I'm 5'8".

I never understood the looking thru the windshield issue until I got caught in rain 50 miles from home. You don;t see anything! 8" seems to be the perfect height though. I got a Memphis Shades

I have a 7" LRS that I like for around town riding but prefer my stock windshield for long trips. The shorter shield causes too much helmet buffeting at highway speeds and I feel like my brain is vibrating in my head.

BTW, I pack my 7" in the saddle bag so I have it at my destination.

Good luck on the ride and that stock seat for 1000 miles.
Agree with above. I did a 6200 mile ride with a tall shield in 12 days. Saved my *** from bugs, gravel, sleet.

Thanks guys.

Think I'm just gonna go for it using the 8". Worst case is I get something else along the way or for the trip back.

Best case would be I was overthinking the whole thing and the 8" is fine.

Guess we'll see.

I also like the idea of using the 12" but packing the 8"
