Not a fan of linked brakes regardless of how old the technology is...there are circumstances for only using one of the brakes...

JMO, linked brakes are for the people who do not know how to apply proper braking skills...MOCO is trying to appeal to those people that think this technology is safer...BS if you ask me.

What would those circumstances be?

The only circumstance at the speeds where the brakes are linked would be trail braking while racing hot into a corner.

We don't have enough lean angle for that kind of racing.

I trail brake all the time, and as often as not, I use the front brake. Front or rear really doesn't matter much as long as you're doing it right. Bikes that do have the lean angle for that kind of racing also have linked brakes.

They are a $795 option on this model, just like the Road King.

The Street Glide Special has ABS as standard equipment.

Odd, in all the bikes I have owned with ABS, I rarely use the rear for anything. Are HDs that tippy? I don't own one yet, but it seems surprising how many fear their front brakes at low speeds.

I had a VTX1800T with hydraulically linked brakes, they worked GREAT! I was concerned because I live on a steep hill with 1000' gravel drive. At the bottom of the drive you need to do a 90 degree left turn + stop immediately for cross traffic. Normally, if you look at the front brake in those conditions you're on the ground. But, these worked perfectly + HD's electronic link should address that concern anyway. While not as good as ABS, it's a definite improvement over independent systems.
