Default pcv is bad for harleys dealer tells me

yes I know another one anyhow....

I went to the dealer today basically because my wife wanted a shirt. while she was looking I was talking to the parts guy who use to be a mechanic there. so we are talking and I said before I had my bike dynoed it would pop sometimes and now it doesn't. so he goes on to ask me if I have the screaming eagle tuner. I said no I have the pcv.

then he tell me that pcv are bad for Harleys... reason they are bad he said is because picture a 2 lane high way this is how the ecm in the bike is intended to run. when you add a pcv or anything other tuner other than a screaming eagle tuner. you are creating a 4 lane highway. and the adding of the traffic over time will cause the ecm to over load and sometimes either fry the ecm or the tuner. this is because you are making the bike go against what it is programed to do. because Harley has a closed loop not an open loop system. he even told me that a dyno jet rep who makes the pcv said that they are bad for Harleys. this is what he learned when he went to mechanic school.

now im by no means an expert on this stuff. that's why I had my bike dynode. and it runs great imo. but I was hoping to get some opinions of this conversation from some of yall that know a lot about this. no I didn't leave anything out didn't add lib anything. this is exactly what he told me. so hope fully I get an answer from the actual experts on this. please do not give me a guess or a personal opinion. you either know something about this or you don't.

Maybe now you know why he "used to be" a mechanic. Just kidding, I don't know anything about the PCV except that there are a lot of them in use.

pc doesn't send any signals to the ecm,it doesn't trick the ecm.it takes the signal from the ecm to the injectors and modifies the signal.

I say Bullshit to that!!
You just need to find a better tuner, that's all.

What did you expect the "parts guy" to say?

They want to sell their product, no-one else's.

Most of the Harley SE Tuner guys don't know sick-em.
That's one of the reasons why there's PC-V's.
They know it and don't like it, cause it's not HD.
There's always those guys on this forum who that everything that they have to have for the HD has to be HD.
It's your choice.

Been runnin' mine for going on 4 years now, as many other's have on this site as well.
No issues.

Is there better tuners than PC-V's? Yes there is.

Is there better tuners than SEPT'S or SERT'S?
You bet..

Ask the pro-tuners what they use and then use what-ever they use.

Nothing wrong at all with PC-Vs.

My tuner uses PC-V's BTW.

The parts guy is what we kindly describe as "being educated just enough to be dangerous".

Not to mention his analogy makes no sense.

Like to ask that DA how all that pinging my stock bike had prior to my PCV was better for my engine.

So, that would mean that 'mechanic' says 4 lane highways are bad for Harleys, and you should always avoid extra traffic then?

Using his analogy, I'd have to believe the PCV is GOOD for Harleys...

One of the Harley dealers here is a Dynojet dealer, and is THE place to get your bike dyno'd with one of the Power Commanders.

They've been rated one of the top HD service departments for a few years now.
Southeastern Virginia and Northeastern North Carolinas' only
