Let us know how that goes, OK? Lots of threads here with the same theme - dealers aren't dealing. Hopefully you'll have a better experience to tell about. Good luck!!

Not true at all. The few folks that I personally know have gotten good deals for their trades. Hell I'm breaking even myself.
Rode the first 14 limited my dealer got in- loved the bike, didn't love the trade in offer on my 13 limited. He offered $19,633 with 6500 miles on it. I still have my 13 and he still has the 14. I've read here where guys are getting 21-22 for their 12 & 13 trades.

I believe you. But if you do a thread search, you're going to find all kinds of whining all week about dealers giving crap offers for trades. Actually I'd expect that - why deal when you have people filling the showrooms and clamoring for the new bikes? Dealers around here were full of people because of the 110th and they were really selling a lot of bikes. The salesman I know and deal with told me to not even bother asking, as he knows he can't give me a good deal.....yet. He said to come back in October. For those that you know that are getting good deals, more power to them.
Breaking even is a relative term, to me anyway. I put a good down payment on my bike; I'd be getting a raw deal if I just broke even on a trade in based on what I owe on it. I always say - your money, your decision. If you're happy that is ALL that counts.
I always thought Harleys held their value a lot better than the metric cruisers. I can see why a dealer would not give as good of a trade in value as a private sale. I would think there is a good private market for a one or two year old HD in nice shape.
