Does anyone one know of a sure way to tell if compensator spring pack is toast? My mechanic friend swears thats compensator noise resonating thru the heads,,I'm going to recheck compensator spring pack,and cam chain tensioners

Only good way to tell is to remove it. The cranks in the 99-02's were pretty good to not twist.
My '99 had a whirring noise, that turned into a knock, it was the cheap a$$ inner cam bearings.

I forgot to mention ,the person i bought this bike from,replaced inner primary as it blew apart on her,,she couldnt tell me what went inside,,said she only had to replace the shoe a bolt and the inner primary cover
