HD will assess how these "twin Cooled" models are being recieved by the buying public and go from there. By the looks of things they are selling well and I can assess that we shall see a completely liquid cooled motorcycle in the next 2-3 years, and the entire line-up being LC within 4-5 years from now.

cheers
If everyone approached their next bike from a purely objective point of view there wouldn't be any air cooled bikes in production. Bike buyers are very subjective and thats why Harleys are so popular now. Car buyers are far more objective and that is a big part of why there are no air cooled cars left.

Personally, buying my Goldwing was an mostly objective decision while the Ducati was more subjective.

It it my hope that "most" touring models will stay air cooled. With the Limited being liquid cooled it provides an option.

For those who like to take there lowers off for the summer months the new liquid cooled takes away that option.

Hey Scooter, just because someone likes the simplicty of aircooled engines doesn't mean they are stuck in the 1960's technology. Your simple solution of buying old and type casting anyone who has an opinion different from yours is condesending and disrespectful. You aren't the smartest guy in the room. In fact your inmaturity preceeds you.

So here is a lesson, Harley got to where it is at from folks who want the newest version of the old technology they can get. Up until now, MOCO has cornered that market because bikes like the VTX don't really give the buyer that kind of product and market numbers prove it. Not that the VTX isn't a good bike, it is a great performer, but it's not a Harley.

Harley knows their customer and jumping on the newest and lastest bandwagon won't sell their bikes. Oh sure, neothunderheads pretentiously put down anyone who resist change, but Harley is still around because of their old school product. Yet, is it really old school? Compare the 1995 Ultra to a 2013 and most would be hard pressed to guess the 18 year difference. Yet count how many parts are interchangeable. Harley did what it has to do to keep up without having to give away the image that sells its bikes. Is going water cooled a risk, you bet. But I think they did OK so far.

Eventually Harley may force me to make other choices, but it's likely the choice would be going all in with a Goldwing/BMW instead of staying all out with an Indian. That you have to turn this discussion into an us versus them is juvenile and doesn't add anything in an intellectual level of discussion of opinions. You have a choice, you can do better.

You talk a lot and say nothing.

I didn't mean to strike a nerve. Don't be so sensitive. These are just opinions, ya know.

I'd take a water-cooled Harley, but I don't actually count the 2014's as really being water-cooled. (Harley doesn't even use the word 'water' do they?) It's certainly not water-cooled like the Gold Wing I had in, ah, 1975, but I know Harley will catch up some day, or century.

I would prefer the liquid cooled motor. I bought this VROD in 2008 with zero miles on it, 32,000 miles later, now under the ownership of my wife, I done two maintenance things: replaced the voltage regulator and the oil every 5000 miles. These started development in 1995 and wasn't even released until 2001. Imagine how the liquid cooled touring line will perform like in six years.

Most people on this forum complain about the excessive heat of the Harleys especially during the summer. I am new to HD, always wanted a Roadking but I wish it was water cooled like all the metric bikes I've owned and have been bullit proof. I expect all touring bikes from HD to be water cooled in the next five years. The new HD customer has changed over the last ten years.

I love the VROD but if it weren't for decent sales outside the US they'd be out of production. We've got people on this forum seriously debating the change to the frickin' fairing! I sincerely doubt the majority here is ready to embrace liquid cooling across the lineup at this point. Good to test the waters with three models. No brainer on the trike. Jury still out on the CVO and FLHTK.

Air cooled all the way. Interesting that the poll is about even. I prefer air cooled for it's simplicity. The HD engine is a fairly simple beast (with the exception of the FI but don't get me started on that). I prefer simple because there is less crap to break.

An air cooled Harley is like a b!@w job. Awesome. A liquid cooled is a sloppy b!@w job. And the difference is? They both get to the same destination. Or?
