Unhappy Can't get battery out

Trying to get the battery out of my '08 FLHT. Followed the manual instructions. When I pulled the strap to lift the battery out the strap broke. Now I can't get the battery out of the battery tray. I've taken the right side cover off so I can get to the side of the battery to try to help get extra upward push on it. I can even get my hand under the battery tray and push up on the bottom of the battery. The battery raises maybe 1/4" then seems to get some resistance. Thought about making a strap to lift it out and using battery terminals to secure the strap to the battery but didn't know if the terminals would take the weight.

Struggled longer than I want to admit last night trying to get the battery out.

Anyone else have this issue?

Any suggestions?

grap the battery posts with pliers, vise grips or channel locks and pull straight up. The strap on my 08 did the same thing.

You can also put a couple of zip ties through the post holes and use them as handles.

My 08 did same thing. Took right side cover off pushed from underneath. The battery would get caught up on the way out so would have use my free hand and wiggle it while pushing up (if I remember, had to lean it forward on way up)

Thanks guys!
Used the terminals. Bolted a bracket to each terminal pulled toward the front of the bike and it came right out!
