Before i got my 13 ultra limited,i had an 06 street glide. On a day trip several years ago,one of my latch springs broke.I got the parts i needed and fixed it! Never giving it a thought several months later the other side broke,ok,repaired! After i got my 13,i was talking to a friend and he said,he and some guys he knows unlatches theres after each days ride if feasable. This does 2 things, take tension off of the latch mechanism and spring, also keeps lid gasket from flattening out! It might have been spoken about before, just thought i'd pass it along! Ride safe
I reckon as long as you remember to lock them before getting back on the road. IMO I don't think it's that big of an issue that it needs baby'd like this.

Very good point to share... I live in PA so there are generally about 4 months where I don't get to ride and even if I don't unlatch my bags every time I put the bike the garage, I may start to do this over the winter months. Thanks for pointing that out.
