Further to Mike's comments, the steel pressing is very similar over the years, so while they will retrofit there are differences that may make them not direct replacements. I have a 2003 fender on my 1990 bike, which fortunately came with the front lamp, as the 1990 one won't swap over. Also the pattern of holes used to pin on the various metal badges are different. I installed an original 60s 'Electra Glide' badges, which fortunately hide the 'Ultra' hole pattern.
If you want the SG look, plainly none of that matters!
