Default RKC and hard bags

I'm possibally looking to move to some hard bags for my Road King Classic. I'm not terribly happy withy the room there is is these bags and I'm considering going with larger stretched bags...But I'm looking for the best options out there that you've seen used. Also, are there any modifications that I have to do to mount them onto the stock 2012 FLHRC bag setup to accomidate hard bags.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks

That was one of the immediate mods I did on mine. Had the leather bags for about 2 weeks. The leather ones are wider but not as tall, while the hard bags are taller but not as wide. Mine is an 08 so I don't have 1st hand experience with the '12 bag mounts. I have a vague recollection of my hard bags coming with some bushings/shims (don't know the correct name) small aluminum cylinders of various thicknesses to make the upper brackets stand away from the frame an appropriate amount so the lids wouldn't scrape against the seat when opened and closed. Very low tech, easy to deal with though you might need a trip to the hardware store to get longer mounting bolts.

Your rear pin receptical of the bag is fixed, your front one is adjustable.... Might have to loosen it up and move it slightly - that's about it. They go right on!!

I put hard bags on my '06 RKC. Loosen the bolt on the front fastener, mount the bag, install the rear quick connect. Move the front fastener until it aligns with the quick connect, turn it tight, then take your wrench and tighten the front fastener. You're done.

I have a '12 RKC. I too switched to hardbags. They mounted just fine w/out any mod to the mounting hardware.

While I love the look of both the leather bags and hard bags, the security of locking the hardbags up tight won me over.
