Well, since it has been re hashed, I use the BUG SLIDE chemical. I usually don't tout or definitely don't endorse any product but since I have been using this on my road king windshield and all over my bike including paint and chrome, the bugs are much easier to wash off. I take a small bottle and a micro fiber towel with me on our tours and usually wipe down in the early morning while enjoying my coffee. I have it a game to have my bike cleaned and ready before most are out of bed leaving the staring at my bike wondering how it stays so clean while theirs are dusty and bug covered...One more reason i like the road king as i can disassemble( remove the windshield, tour pack and bags) in minutes, give her a good wipe down and reassemble just as quickly. I use a towel to lay the windshield on for protection.

Are there actually folks advocating riding without headlights, to avoid bugs?

Bugs on the bike are a part of riding.

For God's sake, leave your lights on!!!

Since the bugs out number us about 10 billion to 1, I guess we live with it.
After a long ride I take a large beach towel soaked in warm water and lay it over the windshield and fairing, they wipe right off. I would rather spray it at a coin wash instead of wiping it .depends on what is going on.

Windshields are easy....

Follow the "7 P's of Success": Proper Prior Planning Prevents **** Poor Performance

Here's what I do... I use quality wax on the fairing, and the results are the same using Harley's spray cleaner and polish.
