Default 99' speedo cable replacement ????????

Maybe someone here has the low-down on a speedometer cable that will fit a 1999 Electra Glide Ultra Classis? The bike has no speed sensor at the tranny ... has the mechanical cable drive from the front wheel to the gauge! The speedo gauge stopped working, as did the turn signal cancel feature and cruise. I ordered a new cable but its too short .... 41.5" I think it is .... but its at least 4 to 5 inches too short. All the research I've found states that HD part number 67054-98 is the correct #, but is also 41-1/2 inches. Would anyone here know of another part number for the 99' ? .... I'm not going to order another cable that is not the correct one. THIS IS A STOCK FLHTCUI AND HAS NO MODIFICATIONS. This is the last year of the older EVO technologies but the first year of the twin cam - frustrating! Thanks in advance

both carbed and FI 99 models call for 67054-98 as you've found so this tells me something is not stock

you could always send the cable you bought to motion pro and have them create a cable for you that is 5 inches longer.

Thanks for the response UltraNutz ...... I'm sure there may have been some motor work done previously by a previous owner, but as far as everything else, bone stock!

then I would venture to say the cable may be routed incorrectly. I had that issue with my 12 FLHTK from the factory. The way they routed the clutch cable from the factory was not the same as they do for all other models and caused adjustment issues that led to a failed clutch pak. All was replaced under warranty including the replacement and proper routing of the clutch cable.

I had a 99 and since speedo cable was a regular replacement item I kept the part number written down for when traveling. 67078-85B and just looked in an old 2002 accessory catalog and it says "99-later FLHT". However, that was many years ago so the part number may no longer be valid.

since you had to remove the old cable to try and replace it... did you measure the length of the one you removed?

most cities have an old time speedo shop who can make cables...basically they just put a new inner drive cable into your sheath...fast and easy. just did it on my truck

in PHX it is "dick's speedo tach" on 7th st and indian school-

Yes Weavr99FLHT, the OEM cable removed measures around 46 inches. There are no part numbers or reference engravings anywhere, other than on the rubber boot cover that's down on the wheel rotation sensor says "Harley-Davidson". UltraNutz, I'm glad you had help in the warranty dept. and sorry 'bout those frustrations as well. Not sure I'd trade this ole girl in if they gave 20k for her ..... but anywhoooo, the routing of the cable seems to be the only & best way of installing the thing, not that I'm an expert. I know I caused the problem to begin with by foolin' around with the radio and wiring under the outer fairing. Thanks for all the help. The cable I seek is somewhere around 46 inches and can't be any shorter, just can't be!

Mkguitar, I am pondering this idea as well and will certainly do so if I can find a shop nearby (Madison, WI), worst case even send the thing off to someone who can get'r done! However, I am slightly concerned about the sheath as well, but it does seem to be in OK shape .... but with the mileage and age of this ride, I would suspect a new one would be in order. I can ride for a while without the speedo anyway, I only use it to make sure I'm not out of the "10 over zone", but the cruise and self cancelling turn signal gone .... hate riding behind someone that is ALWAYS GOING TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT, but never does because the blinker is just blinking away and they don't know it!!!
