never used the heated grips but im guessing they wont do much for the top of your hands and fingers where the wind is hitting.

as for where to put controller. im a morron and rode all last winter with the puch clipped to that leather strip that runs from the front of the seat to the speedo on the wide glide. it was very convenient and worked great... but the wires marked my tank all up and i had to buff out the swirl lookng marks from it. havent decided how i want to run it this year.

wish i would have known there was a wireless version before dumiping the cash for the gerbings dual controller.

I have heated grips and heated gloves and a jacket liner. The heated grips work great for cold mornings and cool evening rides, but when it gets below 40, I wear the gloves unless it is a short dash. I have National Cycle hand guards which enhance the effectiveness of the grip heaters, but when in the 30's out come the gloves.

For me, since I own both, it is about being comfortable. Now that you have both, you may find the times you use the gloves greatly reduced, but when it is really cold, the gloves can make the difference and turn a winter ride into a great winter ride.

Last year I used my heated gloves just twice. Both times the heated grips would have been marginal or even not enough. But those were very cold days and all day rides. Our New Years Day ride started out in the mid 20's and hit a high of 38.

I will be the first to admit that the heated grips, hand guards have replaced the need for heated gloves 90% or better of the time, it is those remaining 10% of the very cold days that you will relish the heated gloves.

Thanks!! The heated grips have enabled me to leave out in the morning with temps in low 50's and wearing my fingerless gloves. Hands stayed warm. I agree that when it gets down in the 30's or lower the heated gloves will come out. Will try using regular gloves and see how it feels. Don't intend to part with my heated gloves as I do a lot of Patriot Guard missions in the middle of winter sometimes.

Hand Guards really enhance the heated grips by keeping the wind off the hand and gloves. I wear my thin summer gloves almost year round and switch to a heavier gauntlet style only when it is below the mid 40s. There are some new styles of hand guards available. Any will work. I put National Cycle hand guards on my bike as they were the only real choice when I switched to them. I found the value of hand guards when I had my VStrom. All of a sudden I was wearing my summer gloves almost year round and when moving, the gloves stayed dry in the rain.

I like my NC hand guards well enough that I leave them on all year. Keeps the bugs and stones off my fingers. Mine are smoked transparent so you don't even notice they are on the bike. There is also a new thread that has the Great Bike Gear Harley version Hand Guard in either black or chrome hand that looks good as well. Here is the link:

Hi Guys need help got the heated vest liner(No sleves) ya I know was a gift and the gloves. Well I got the dual thermostat controller. No problem where to plug in the Vest and the power to the bike. I am left with the black plug from the thermostat and my gloves are plugged into the yellow assesory in the Vest. I only have 2 plugs for the Vest White and Yellow. My question is can I plug my gloves into the black of the thermosat and leave the Yellow hanging for any other heated gear. Will I then be able to control the Vest and Gloves individually?

I am revitalizing this thread to see if there have been any creative ideas since. I have the remote controller and want to mount it to a road king, but conditions are that I want to hide it as much as possible and for it to be out of the rain.

A friend who has a different controller gave me a 2 in wide elastic and velcro strap that I put around my left thigh. I cli[ the controller to this and it puts the controller out where I can see it and get to it while riding with heated gloves. I found if it was clipped to my jean pocket or chaps before I got Gerbing heated pants, it was always covered by my coat and I couldn't see where the ***** were set without taking my eyes off the road for too long a time.

clip it directly on the power connection that sticks out of the seat and lays on the tank console

+1 For the the captain.
I have had the magnetic tank pouch for years and has worked great.
Only issue it the elastic strap is losing it's elasticity.

Nothing last forever.
