I use the pouch and leave it on my belt. I have the cables tied off to be just the right length to wear it on my left side plug into the bridal and to my liner without the wires hanging all over the place. Not sure how i would use it without the pouch on my SG. I used to have a perfect spot to hang it on my old Goldwing, I preferred that to wearing it on my belt.
I clip mine (dual controller) to the left side strap on my leather jacket. The receiving plug is zip tied to the rear guard. I always get off the bike and then realize that the plug just quick dis-connected The other wires extra slack is velcro held inside jacket.
