Changing your seat and bars will help but the best thing to do is practice. Once you get enough seat time it becomes A LOT easier to handle.

for me the handling wasn't an issue... the joint pain on the other hand.... that's what i had to fit to ease the strain and stretch.

that's what i love about harleys.... we can all compare one model, but we might have 10 things different on each one that fits the rider!

Took me awhile and I finally changed to Heritage Style bars and that was really night and day for me personally. I installed an Ultra seat for my wife's benefit ( I like the stock seat) and I think it moved my forward a little. I also put on the floor board extender and high way pegs and now I am set.

Its amazing how tall the seat is even for taller folks. I am 6' and sometimes reach for the ground if the road is not flat.

Good luck.

I know what you mean Mike, I loved my stock RK seat but I need a backrest or I cant ride very far and it looks like **** with just the rider backrest and just as ugly with a pass one directly behind it.....

Someone mentioned go to the dealer and they have a fit shop where they have a bike you can swap bars and seats to see what you like.... But they also have a Demo seat program. They have seats they will put on your bike and let you take it out for a ride to see how you like it. They are usually stamped with orange "demo" on them. I'm not sure if you leave your seat there or if you just leave a depost. Swapping a seat on a Road King takes about 3 Minutes.

That CVO is bananas!
I'm currently riding it more to see what I'd like to change it seems different on each ride, but at the same time becoming more familiar. Sometime I think a good long ride would sort things out faster.

If your local dealer does not have a fit up dummy bike, they may have a demo seat program where you can take a seat for 24 hours and give it a try.
