Default Getting the right seat

I am getting my first Harley this summer and I have narrowed it down to a Road King. Right now I am riding a Vulcan Nomad and it fits me perfect. Every Harley that I have rode or have sat on seems to be a bit small or cramped. I am 6' 6" and around 260 so I need a seat that is going to give me the most room possible. Any suggestions out there?

thanks

I'm 5'9" and ride a Street Glide. Coming off a Heritage, the SG felt a little cramped and I felt I was sitting on top of the bike. I got a C&C seat and it moved me back and down about 2 inches. It's a nice seat. I got it on Craigs List for $75 but seats can be pricy.

La Pera makes some pretty thin and low seats which may help you stretch out a little bit more.

The other thing youcan so is have your seat re-worked by someone like Mean City Cycles

You may want to try different Harley seats at the dealer when you shop for your bike and see if you can make a new seat part of your deal

When I've ridden a Road King it felt cramped to me, but it seemed to be more the foot controls than the seat. I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but extended reach forward controls is where I'd start to get more room. As far as seats, most of them get you lower than stock, instead of higher. Handlebars are also a big difference you might overlook. I just changed to didfferent bars at the same height as stock, but a little change in angle made my stock seat feel a lot better.

I've got a 2010 ultra that I put H.D.'s tallboy seat on. I'm 6'6" and 320, it lowered me a little which I didn't like but it moved me back 1.5 inches and that did help quite a bit.

I just posted on another seat thread that the Mustang seat I had on my 99 RK was the best I've ever had. I now have one on my 2010 FXSTC.

at 6'6" you'll probably need a tallboy seat moves you back from controls
