The overlap is what it is. The difference in the diameter of the head pipe shield versus the diameter of the muffler slip on section is what it is. Going back to the stock mufflers is no difference.

I love my Jackpots on my SG too, great quality and sound. Easy to hear the stereo running 85 but loud when u want them to be. Probably the best bang for the buck on my bike

As far as how loud they would be with the stage 1 completed, I can only say that mine are barely noticeable cruising at 2500rpm in 5th gear without a helmet. With a full face on I can hear the purr without drone.
I have a pic of my bike with stocks on. Immediately after the stock mufflers slide into the header pipe, they bubble out and become large ... burying the "fitment" issue i speak of.

I also have a pic of my old bike with V&H muffler AND v&h header .. seemless fit.

The issue here is that the Jackpots are narrower than the stock header pipe. See pics in the link i put from jackpot website.

As said above, im definitely obsessing over something small and stupid ... but now that my wife keeps harping on it talking about "you made the bike look cheap like you tried fitting something that isnt supposed to fit" now its all i see when i look lol

Happen to know, if i switch to an aftermarket head pipe, would it match better?

Or is the jackpot muffler just an odd size?

Thanks so much

I just spoke to FM and the jackpots are the same for 14 as previous years. I ordered a set because I love the sound and they really are cheap for a good product. I have a 14 CVO Road King. I'll post up how they fit after install.

FYI - Fuel Moto does make a quiet baffle for the 3.5" and 4" mufflers if you find that it is too loud with future mods. I don't now if they offer a quiet baffle for the 4.5" slip ons yet.

Right, I'd have to give them a call to see if its possible to change out the baffle on the pro touring line. I understand there are no options of baffle when ordering, so im assuming its welded right in.

My 4" slashdowns came today. Installed really quickly. No fitament issues at all.

Sound is great, kind of quiet when tooling around and gives you a nice deep noise when on the throttle. Best deal ever for 350 bucks.

The baffles are not welded in on my Slash Down jackpots. I have removed mine and were very easy to pull out, but I do not have the Pro Touring version. Also I have had numerous slip ons and they all mount the same to the head pipe. None that I have actually slide up and butt up against the muffler body to the heat shields. I think that is a non issue.
